Friday’s Fave Five

Friday's Fave Five

We’re through our first week of April already, and it’s time once again to count our blessings lest they pass unnoticed. I join with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story to share about our weeks.

1. Easter is a tremendous blessing, and not just once a year. What a marvel, that God loved us enough to send His Son to redeem us.

2. Easter with the family. We had a lovely meal together. Then the guys and Timothy had an Easter egg hunt with money in the plastic eggs. šŸ™‚ We had to do it inside because the ground was wet from morning rain. I made a basket for Timothy and smaller spring buckets for the adult kids. We had a paper tablecloth with puzzles and picture to color.

3. An egg hunt for Mom and Dad. Jason, Mittu, and Timothy made up and hid some eggs for Jim and me! That was unexpected! And fun! His had a boy stick figure on the outside, and mine had a girl figure.

They filled the eggs with little slips of paper where they wrote things they appreciated about us. That touched my heart. I especially liked Mittu’s “You made my favorite man” and Timothy’s “Thank you for my Dad.” šŸ™‚

4. My own Easter basket. This year, Jim made an Easter basket for me! That was also unexpected and thoughtful. Yes, that’s a lot of sugar! But it’s all packaged, so I can parcel it out over the next several weeks.

5. Peony buds! I’ve wanted peonies for a long time. Jim planted these last May, but it was past their blooming time. He thought they had not survived the winter. But he discovered they’re about to bloom!

That’s our week. How was yours?

  1. What a wonderful idea for Mitu and family to do the Easter egg for you with those little messages!! I might steal this idea for my young adult daughters next year. šŸ™‚ We haven’t had an Easter Egg hunt since my youngest, now 27, was 8 yrs old!! I love that you had this meaningful Easter. We only gave the girls and the boyfriend of my oldest some treat bags. I made homemade all natural ingredients chocolate pb cups and there were enough for each person to have one plus I sent two home with each daughter. I told dave DO NOT buy traditional Easter candy for me or himself as he needs to lose weight (per his last cardiology appt) and I don’t want the processed sugars. I love that yours came in small packages and you can divide it up..good idea your hubby had!

I have two peony bushes but they won’t be ready to bloom here in eastern NY until early June. My irises and tulips are starting to come up though. šŸ™‚

and I found 2 crocuses the other day!

    HAPPY SPRING!!

  2. Ah, I love the Easter egg hunt for you and Jim! What a sweet and thoughtful thing for you.

Your Easter meal looked so good. And paper plates make clean up so much easier. Good job!

I’m glad you will be able to enjoy your peony blooms soon. What color do you think?

    Have a blessed weekend.

  3. Awww what a nice Easter! I think I needed an Easter basket this year but then I remind myself that Jesus gave me the best Easter treat of all šŸ™‚ I got the local kids chocolate bunnies from Aldi and it will be fun to (hopefully) have a grandbaby next Easter to have fun with. I too love peonies. Yours look really good! I dug up a clump this weekend at my mom’s and transplanted them here. They currently look pretty sad but I’m hoping within a few weeks they’ll at least perk up enough to look like they’ll make it.

  4. Your Easter sounds wonderful with much celebrating. I love the egg hunt for you and Jim. So much time and thought went into that.

My peonies took over my garden so much so that I had to thin them last year. They popped up again this year, though smaller in size as I’d hoped. They are quite hardy.

  5. My peonies survived another winter and are about to bloom, too. They’re my daughter’s favorite flower and she has many all over her garden.

Your Easter celebration sounds like it was so much fun. All the Easter baskets!

    Have a good week!

  6. Well I teared up at what was in your and Jim’s eggs. That was a lovely gift. Your Easter sounds like it was really lovely. Can’t wait to see pics of your peonies in bloom. Mine have even poked through the ground yet. It takes a few years before they really get going.

  7. Oh what a lovely take on an egg hunt for you and your husband. And yes looks like that basket might take a while to get through. Glad you had a lovely Easter. Hope your week is good.

  8. Oh my goodness! Those eggs for you and Jim are even sweeter than your candy-filled basket. What a memorable family time together. Your Easter meal looks delicious (those look like Brazilian rolls). Yes, we are blessed by the gift of life through Jesus.

Congrats on the peonies! They are pretty resilient and I’m glad yours will bloom, if they haven’t already.
