Friday’s Fave Five

Friday's Fave Five

We’re halfway through April already! It seems like spring just got here but is in a hurry to pass through. We try to slow time down just a little by stopping to appreciate the good things of the week with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story.

1. Timothy’s birthday was this week, but we celebrated a little early on Sunday with pizza and cake. It’s hard to believe he’s going to be a teenager next year!

2. More time with Tim. He stayed with us Monday afternoon while Mittu had a doctor’s appointment. We spent much of the time sitting in the camper van and chatting. Then I asked Jason and Mittu if they could stay for dinner after the appointment, and they did.

3. Cleaned front porch and back patio. Some little birds built a nest between the front porch light fixture and the wall. The baby birds already hatched and flew away, but they left a mess. So Jim hosed the whole porch off. Then I noticed Monday that a couple of different kinds of vines had entwined themselves in my hydrangea bush next to the back patio. Jim cleaned out the vines and pressure-washed the patio. It’s nice to have the outside areas ready for use again.

4. Mary Poppins. The school associated with our church puts on a play at least once, maybe twice a year. They always invite the church family to the last dress rehearsal for free before the regular performances start. This time it was Mary Poppins, which had to have been quite a challenge. I had wondered if they were going to have her come from the ceiling with her umbrella. They didn’t. 🙂 The kids did a great job. I’ve thought that a musical would be harder to do than just a regular play, but the musicals they’ve done have been some of their best performances. Maybe having a melody to remember the lines by helps.

5. Road paving. Our little street connects to another couple of small streets before reaching a main road. Plus we’re in the county rather than the city. So sometimes our streets are the last to get needed attention. I’ve wondered several times if there was a way to request someone to come out and fix potholes and repave the streets. But this week, workers appeared out of the blue to do some of the preliminary work for paving. I’m not sure how long the process is, but I am so thankful it has started. I look forward to freshly paved, pothole-free roads soon!

And that’s our middle-of-April week. How was yours?

  1. What a wonderful week of blessings you’ve had!

Happy #12 to Timmy!! WOW he’s a preteen already…..and he’s TALL! Very handsome boy..do the girls all have a crush on him?? I bet at least one does!

We are in the “country” sort of too compared to being in Troy, Albany or Schenectady. We are in a suburb that is smack dab between Saratoga Springs and Albany, our capital and our streets seem to always be last when new pavement is needed although I did notice a huge pothole on the main road into our development was fixed sometime last week. Glad yours are too!

How nice that Jim tidied everything up for you! I’ve been working on our deck and the pollen is everywhere. I give up, I told my husband. I’ll give it a good washdown vome June when the pollen dies down.

    HAPPY weekend!

  2. Sounds like a good week. 🙂 I was supposed to attend a writers conference last weekend, but my neck and back pain wouldn’t let me. Tonight and tomorrow, I am scheduled to attend a women’s conference at church. I’m praying the pain will leave. Have a blessed weekend. 🙂

  3. Oh my! Tim is almost a teenager!! Happy Early Birthday to him!

I think it would be fun to have a bird’s nest to where I could see it and watch the progress of eggs turning to little birdies! I can imagine the mess it leaves behind though.

Mary Poppins does indeed sound like a challenging play to present. I always loved watching Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke in the movie version. I couldn’t count the number of times I watched it when my son was young. I’m glad you were able to see the dress rehearsal. Very ambitious project!

Have a great weekend. Looking forward to our lunch this coming Tuesday.
