Show and Tell Friday

Kelli at There’s No Place Like Home hosts “Show and Tell Friday” asking Do you have a something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, an antique find. Your show and tell can be old or new. Use your imagination and dig through those old boxes in your closet if you have to! Feel free to share pictures and if there’s a story behind your special something, that’s even better! If you would like to join in, all you have to do is post your “Show and Tell” on your blog, copy the post link, come over here and add it to Mr. Linky. Guidelines are here.

I’ve made some progress on my cross stitch project. The last time I showed it it looked like this:

Precious Moments cross stitch

Now it looks like this:

Cross stitch

I still have to do a mop and bucket to the left along with the caption underneath, but the end is in sight!

I found this lamp in a catalog a few years ago and I really liked its uniqueness. I don’t remember how much it was, but I do remember it was very reasonable.

It really aggravates my family, though, that if you touch it in just the right way, the little pieces fall out. We’ve been talking about securing them with plasti-tak but haven’t yet.

I know, I know, there is red there, and I have said I don’t like red — but it looks like kind of a dark pinkish red to me. 😀

The lamp is in the family room, which also has a mantle. Here are a few of the things there:

Willow Tree

These are the only Willow Tree figurines I have, which is fine, because I don’t have the space for another collection. But I love these because of the father, mother and boys, since I have boys. There was another one of just a boy holding a heart which I also thought of getting since we have three boys. My guys think these look really weird. 🙄 I love the graceful beauty of these pieces. The little plaque in the middle was given to me by a secret sister from our ladies group at church a few years ago.

  1. I love your cross-stitch. I used to do this so much…made several Precious Moments. You’ve inspired me to pick it up again!!!! Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog.

  2. Your cross stitch is coming along so well, and I love Precious Moments. I have 2 books of their patterns; I need to get those out and have a look.

I also love your Willow Tree figures. I have 4 of them, the beginnings of a collection. They’re so sweet and simple.

  3. Beautiful job with your cross stitch! I so envy those who do this work. And the figurines, I see them at stores very often and think of buying some myself…I love the fact that there are no facial features which make them sooooooooooo interesting and the first thing I do is begin to imagine…and I think a little more deeply. That shadow box lamp is ideal, it looks like, for your personal decor!

Mine is all about a project I did for fun this week, won’t you stop by? Happy Weekend!!!

  4. Your crossstitch is coming along great. It’s very pretty. My daughter collects the Willow Tree’s. They are very sweet.

  5. I LOVE Willow Tree! Over the course of 3 Christmas’s we gave our daughter Jessica the Nativity. Her husband offered to use a magic marker to draw faces on them! We got a good laugh over that one! Recently our oldest grand-daughter gave her life to the Lord and was baptized. I gave her one of her very own which she thought was great! I have given several to our oldest daughter Jennifer and with our youngest daughter getting married in November, I have found a new “couple” that I intend to get for her!

First of all – great job on the cross-stitch! It is turning out so cute!!!! I was able to do a bit of cross-stitching last night before bedtime – it was so relaxing! 🙂

Thanks also for sharing about the other stuff in your house! You have definitely built quite a loving nest there.. 🙂

    Have a blessed weekend!

  8. I love the Willow Tree figurines! I have an angel mommy holding her baby on my credenza at work.

Funny about the red! If you were to ask me my least favorite color it’s green. Yet, I LOVE green too. It just has to be the right shades.

    Have a wonderful weekend

  9. Those Willow Trees are lovely. I really enjoyed those.

Your Precious Moments cross-stitch reminds me–I need to get back at it.

Love to see your pretty things!

  17. NIce showand tell. Coincidence that we both showed our cross stitch! thanks for your kind comments on my blog.

  18. My mum did cross stitch for my boys: Precious moments – one has a boy climbing a tree to get a kitten out and the scripture is “In thee o Lord do I put my trust”.

Any Idea what book that came from ? We’ve lost the original and would love one more for the 3rd boy 😉

    Any help to info@ pepper-pots.com

    • I’ve got five Precious Moments cross stitch patterns books, and I didn’t see it in any of them. I’m sorry! It sounds cute.
