Well, I survived the root canal. π It’s not too bad once they actually get started. While the drilling is going on I keep my eyes closed (because once a piece of something that was being drilled got between my eyelid and eyeball — very painful! And I don’t really want to see the instruments) and think through hymns. It’s the anticipation all morning that gets to me most. No matter how much I remind myself that the Lord has everything under control and everything will be ok, my body still reacts nervously. But look what the Lord gave me in Daily Light this morning:
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3.
I had forgotten this was a 2-part procedure, though. I have to go back next week for the permanent filling. But I think that should be easy.
The left side of my face is still numb — great fun when drinking something! I think I’ll go rustle up some soup for lunch.
I wanted to share this cute video of clay stop motion chess that I saw over at The Common Room. This was especially fun for us because Jesse is currently working on this music in his piano practice. Stay with it — it gets more and more interesting as it goes along.
(If you have trouble seeing the video, you can find it here.)
That video is so cute. I’ll have to show it to Wonder Boy who plays chess.
I’m so happy that all went well for you. I am the same way, it is always the aniety leading up to something like that which makes one so nervous. I put off a colonoscopy until this year because I dreaded the preperation. I was able to take tablets instead of drink liquid which I’m sure would have made me gag and the whole procedure was easy. I don’t know why I dreaded it so much. I’m the same when driving in a new city.
Rest now, you’ve earned it.
So happy the root canal went fine. I hate those with a passion.
Glad it all went okay! I knew God would have your back! I’m sure they hymns helped too!
That chess game was cute!
I’m glad to hear that the root canal went all right. I know about the anticipation thing! That what makes me nervous everytime too. Praying that tooth will just be good as new!
Glad you made it through the root canal ok. I would have still been running at the mere mention. Hope the filling part goes even better.
I’m glad it’s over.
See you tomorrow for BTT.
Glad everything went ok. My trick for surviving the dentist’s drill is to plug my ears with my ipod. When the doc is talking I just roll my thumb on the wheel to turn the sound down and when the drill starts going, I roll it up to cover up the sound. It works great!
Oh dear I’m glad thats over and you’ve done it at least this appointment. Hope you managed your lunch.
This is a great video. Wow it really gets rather violent.
Thank you for sharing
Judi
Glad it’s over for now! I hate going to the dentist too. I think I have an appointment coming up soon. I like your idea of keeping your eyes closed!
So happy to know that all went well for you, Barbara. You’re a brave woman and I’ll also think about hymms and Bible verses the next time I visit the dentist. I really am not too fond of dental equipment… π¦
Love that Isaiah verse! I hope you get to feeling better in no time!
Glad you survived the dentist. I always dread that. Hymns are a great way to calm down.
We love “In the Hall of the Mountain King”!! I will show the boys that video in the morning.
Blessings,
Julie
Hi Barbara…..so glad and thankful to hear that the root canal went well….well, as well as a root canal CAN go. *smile* Having dial-up means I can’t watch the video. *sigh* BUT my dial-up is really fast at everything else: loading pictures, loading webpages, but not at videos or music. Take care and God bless! ((HUGS))
Glad you made it through the procedure. I think I’d prefer to be completely unconscious during all that drilling. Uggh.
I know what you mean about anticipating…
