This is an old hymn that is fairly new to me. I first heard it on the Soundforth CD Freedom Through Christ, then later on the CD A Quiet Heart. I wish it were still in our hymnbooks. I looked up and printed out the words soon after I heard it and listened to it over and over again. I canβt tell you how it has ministered to my heart.
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea.
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart.
I know that while in Heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart.
When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free.
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.
Behold Him there the risen Lamb,
My perfect spotless righteousness,
The great unchangeable I AM,
King of glory and of grace,
One in Himself I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by His blood,
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Savior and my God!

I enjoyed the read my friend. Very touching π Have an excellent Sunday π Aloha
Thank you for the beautiful song!
Those are lovely lyrics Barbara. One of the things that I truly DO miss from the Catholic church is my OLD hymns. It seems that each faith has a different set of “standard” hymns they use. And there are PRECIOUS few in the Lutheran hymnal that were also in the Catholic hymnal! And a couple that have the same words – but are sung to a different tune. However… normally I go to the Majestic Praise service – and at that one we have mostly contemporary hymns – so I’m very happy with that! Today I went to both services because I was supposed to usher the first service. They didn’t need me, so I just stayed – but then they didn’t have communion, so I stayed for the late service after Sunday school too! I usually end up doing that if something takes me to the early service. Pastor’s sermon is ALWAYS better at the 2nd service! Those early people do NOT know what they’re missing! LOL!
I hope you had a very pleasant Sunday! Peace be with you!
I liked the lyrics of this song so much that I clicked on the link and listened to the excerpts. They were too short! I want to hear more!
What a comforting hymn! Thank you for the blessing.
Re: “longarm” – that is the name given to those big quilting machines.
I’ve never heard that hymn before! The lyrics are so beautiful!
