Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt: Bad Hair

Theme: Bad hair | Become a Photo Hunter

Thankfully the category didn’t say it had to be our own bad hair! 😀

Most of our scruffy hair pictures come from Christmas mornings.

This is more like a bad facial hair day. 🙂 From a skit Jason was in at camp:

And this is poor Susie, actually on her way to good hair, but looking pretty bedraggled…and generally unimpressed with the process.

Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt: Time

Theme: Time | Become a Photo Hunter

clock-tower.jpg

This the clock tower downtown, picture borrowed from my son.  I used it a few weeks ago when the theme was “High,” but it fits this week’s too.

Vase and Idaho clock

The Idaho clock was made for us by my husband’s former pastor. My husband’s family moved to Idaho when he was in his early teens, I think, and the pastor of his church there did woodworking as a side hobby. He has given us several lovely gifts over the years. This was used previously as a “Show and Tell Friday post,” but it fits here as well.

Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt: Unique/Funny Signs

photohunters2mo1.gif

Theme: Unique/Funny Signs | Become a Photo Hunter

Oh, I wish I had taken pictures of some of the funny signs we have seen over the years! One of my favorites was a street sign that said “Old Old Hwy 11.” I don’t even remember where we were when we saw it.

I didn’t really have time this week to go looking for unique signs, and the only one remotely funny I have on hand is from a trip my husband and I took to Charleston, SC over 20 years ago. We were with a tour group that visited, and one of the stops was the military base there. I think this sign was outside a women’s restroom.

Is this enough emphasis?

Do you think that’s enough emphasis or do they need a little more? 🙂

You can find more Photo Hunt entries at the site of our hostess, TN Chick.

A new teen-ager!

The thirteenth birthday creates a new teen-ager!

This is Jesse about a year and a half ago.

You can check out other photo hunter’s entries at our hostess TN Chick‘s on Saturday or search for “photo hunt” on Technorati for those who like to play a little earlier.

Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt: Twist(ed)

Theme: Twist(ed) | Become a Photo Hunter

I didn’t have anything really original or creative for this theme, but here are some common twisted items around the house.

CIMG1730

I know, I know, it would be cheaper to cut off a chunk of cheese from a block of it. But these make nice grab-and-go snacks. And they’re fun to untwist. 🙂

I admire a lot of the photo hunters who can take very artsy-looking pictures of everyday things. I don’t think I have developed that skill yet…but I have fun trying. 🙂

Saturday Scavenger Photo Hunt: Glass

Chapel window at Calloway Gardens

This is a stained glass window in a little chapel in the woods at the Ida Cason Memorial Chapel at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA. My husband was given a gift pass to Callaway several years ago as a reward for service at his job, and we took the whole family for a visit. You just come upon this little chapel while walking along a trail, and many times during the day someone is there playing hymns on an organ. I have to admit the organ is not my favorite instrument, but if I am going to listen to one I like the old-fashioned pipe organs, and in this setting many people just stop to sit and listen for a while. It makes for a lovely, peaceful experience.

Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt: High

photohunters2mo1.gif

Theme: High | Become a Photo Hunter

This wasn’t what I was originally thinking about for “high,” but once I came across it, I just had to use it.

One of my sons has been counting calories, and he had done so well and had so many calories left after dinner one day that he splurged and went out to his favorite coffee shop to get dessert. He got a piece of chocolate cake, but it was so rich he could only eat about half of it. He looked up the nutrition information online afterward, and it was a whopping 1,400 calories!! Here is the half that was left, or about 700 calories worth.

1400 calorie cake

And it sits there looking so innocent.

Chocolate cake is high in calories anyway, but I don’t know what they did to this to make it that high!

And now for a more traditional  look at something high:

Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt: Metal

photohunters2mo1.gif

Theme: Metal | Become a Photo Hunter

There are several interesting metal sculptures around town –at least I think they are metal. They look like it.

This is one I tried to get a shot of when the theme was “Row,” but it was too late in the day and too dark. Since I am supposed to be keeping my foot up today, I asked my oldest son to see if he could get a better shot for me.

This is a view from the back:

Here are a couple that my middle son took a while back:

This is another one my oldest son took of my youngest son a few years ago (he’s at least a foot taller now!)

I enjoy seeing these and others around town.

Saturday Photo Scavenger Hunt: I Spy

photohunters2mo1.gif

Theme: I Spy | Become a Photo Hunter

There is an owl somewhere in the trees behind our house that I hear from time to time, and I was hoping to catch a glimpse of him for this theme. I didn’t have any success there, but then I remembered this picture that I used on a previous Wordless Wednesday. It’s a little different, I think, than what TN Chick had in mind for today, but it fits “I Spy.”

Last Mother’s Day my middle son, Jason, took this picture of my youngest son, Jesse, through a wrapping paper tube.

Can you tell which one is wooden? 😀

This shot was taken by my son of his friend while in CA for the summer.
